ARTIST BIO

Having been immersed in art by her art teacher mother since childhood, Adelaide-base artist Yvette Colton specialises in figure studies and portraits. Her preferred mediums include acrylics and charcoal.

Using expressionist and impressionist styles of painting, Yvette portrays the beauty of the female form in classical dramatic poses, and captures the glamour and classical beauty of women of a bygone era in her portraits.

She adopts a more realistic painting style in her fruit still life paintings, exploring their colour, tone, form and texture through intensive studies of her own photographs.

Her work has been described as rustic, glamorous and charming."

Yvette regularly attends life drawing classes for inspiration and has honed her skills attending a number of short and intensive courses at the Adelaide Central School of Art including courses in expressionist portrait painting and figure painting.

Yvette has previously exhibited at exhibitions including the Greenhill Gallery, Blackwood and Victor Harbor Rotary art shows, cafes in Angaston and Port Adelaide, and was a resident artist with her sister at the Chilli Art Design Gallery.

In 2021, Yvette has had her first solo exhibition "Timeless Beauty" hosted by Lake Breeze Winery as part of the South Australian Living Artists Festival.
