ARTIST BIO

I have always loved drawing and painting. It's in my family genes, as my brother was a photographer and high school art teacher and my older sister is also an artist. My father and a great aunt also painted. I always came top of my class in my high school art class. I was a Junior Primary teacher for 40 years and loved incorporating art and creative activities in teaching my students. Throughout my life, I have dabbled in painting, but due to a full time teaching career, caring for sick  family members and bringing up two daughters, I was unable to find the time or energy to develop my art. I promised myself, I would finally give myself time to paint once I had retired. I have been painting regularly since then. I have joined two art groups and attending numerous workshops to develop my skills and knowledge in the arts.

My painting style is realistic. I love painting in watercolour, as I enjoy the way the colours mix and blend in interesting and exciting ways. I also like the detail I can get with watercolour. I have also done some acrylic painting, which I want to explore further.

I have done some commission work and have entered my watercolour paintings into several local community exhibitions, including the Victor Harbor art show, The Tea Tree Gull art exhibition, the Clare art exhibition and the Burnside Art exhibition.

I find inspiration in my love of gardening and nature, and my painting subjects reflect this. I particularly like painting birds and flowers, but have also painted some portraits and animals. I hope you enjoy viewing my paintings.
